Chevrolet chose to end the third generation (C3) Corvette era in high fashion by offering a very special 1982 Corvette called the "Collector Edition". There was no mistaking this one as it had a long list of unique items not available on any other 1982 Corvette. It featured a silver-beige exterior color, an opening rear glass hatch, a silver leather interior accented by multi-color gray trim, 15x8 inch aluminum wheels, gradient decals and striping, bronze tinted glass T-tops, and special Cloisonné Corvette Collector Edition emblems on the front hood, rear gas cap, and steering wheel. The C3’s distinctive styling was taken from the 1965 Mako Shark II show car which first appeared at the 1965 New York Auto Show.
